How it Works: Ordering Your Custom Grave Marker

Step 1: Know Your Cemetery's Rules Before purchasing a flat grave marker, it is critical to contact your cemetery or memorial park. Ask for their "monument regulations." Specifically, confirm that they accept flat granite markers (often called flush or lawn-level markers) and ask about any size restrictions.

Step 2: Choose Your Design Browse our collection of Flat Grave Markers to find a design that honors your loved one. We design and produce and produce all of our memorials in-studio - all designs are unique to us. Don’t see the perfect design? No problem, we design and craft every type of memorial, including custom flat headstones. Tell us about your loved one and we’ll design and craft the perfect tribute to their life.

What happens after you place an order?

We believe in transparency every step of the way. Here is our standard production timeline:

1. Design Proof (4–7 Days): Our artists will create a digital proof of your specific design with your loved one's name and dates. We will email this to you for final approval to ensure accuracy.

2. Production Queue: Once you approve the proof, your order moves to our headstone engraving studio. We use precision techniques to carve deep, lasting contrasts into the natural stone.

3. Quality Inspection: Every marker is hand-inspected for clarity and finish before it leaves our studio.

4. Crating & Shipping (6–8 Weeks): Your marker is securely crated to prevent damage during transit. We ship via freight carrier directly to your home or cemetery.

Delivery and Installation

Important: Granite is incredibly durable but heavy.

  • Standard Markers (approx. 85 lbs): Can typically be lifted by two capable adults.

  • Premium/Companion Markers (200+ lbs): Will require special equipment or a professional installation team to move.

Installation Services Eternal Markers manufactures and ships your stone, but we do not perform installation outside of our standard North and South Carolina region. We recommend hiring a local monument installer or contacting your cemetery's groundskeeping crew to handle the setting of the stone. We can advise every step of the way.

FAQs

  • It depends on your location. We personally install markers across a large region of North and South Carolina.

    • If you are in the Carolinas: If your order falls within our installation region, we will flag it and contact you to discuss having our team handle the installation instead of shipping it. In most cases, there is no additional expense for us to install it within our normal service area.

    • If you are outside our region: We will ship the finished marker directly to you or the cemetery via freight carrier. In this case, we recommend hiring a local monument installer or contacting your cemetery’s groundskeeper to set the stone properly.

  • We can still help. While our website features our most popular standard sizes, our studio can produce markers in any size and in dozens of granite colors or materials not shown online.

    • Custom Orders: If your cemetery has strict regulations (such as specific dimensions, thickness, or bronze requirements) that differ from our standard options, please contact us directly. We can build a custom marker to meet their exact specifications.

  • We do not start engraving until you have seen a proof and are 100% satisfied. After you place your order, our artists will create a digital proof showing exactly how the text and dates will look on the stone. We will email this to you within 4–7 business days. You must reply with your approval before we move the stone into production.

  • We ship via standard freight carriers to the contiguous 48 states. Because of the weight and care required, these are not standard parcel deliveries (like UPS/FedEx). The marker will be securely crated. If you are shipping to a residence, someone must be present to receive and inspect the crate upon delivery.

  • Our standard production timeline is 6–8 weeks after proof approval, with free standard freight included. If you have a specific deadline, such as a memorial service or unveiling, please contact us before ordering to see if expedited shipping or production is available for an additional fee.

  • Yes, we can add a ceramic photo to any marker.

    • Standard Size: Our standard color ceramic portrait is 3-1/4" x 4".

    • Custom Sizes: Larger or different photo sizes are available by request for an additional cost.

    • How it works: If you would like to add a photo to a marker design that doesn't explicitly show one, please contact us or mention it in your order notes. We will collect the high-resolution image from you via email after your purchase.
